Nemanja Stanković, cello
On CORE, Serbian cellist Nemanja Stanković gathers five masterworks for unaccompanied cello that lie at the very heart of his artistic identity. The album frames compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Gaspar Cassadó, Paul Hindemith, György Ligeti, and Philip Glass as successive developments within a single evolving tradition. Across this 300-year historical trajectory, Stanković applies a disciplined structural awareness, wide dynamic range, and vocal approach to phrasing, demonstrating how a single string instrument can encompass an entire musical universe, across centuries, styles and with sustained emotional depth.
