

Megan Sterling
Australian flautist Megan Sterling has enjoyed a distinguished three decade career collaborating with top international conductors and soloists. Appointed Principal Flute of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 2002, she has appeared as soloist with the HKPhil on multiple occasions and with other orchestras worldwide. Sterling’s artistry extends to recitals, chamber music concerts, recordings and broadcasts across Hong Kong, China, Australia, Europe, and the US, including live performances on national television and radio on three continents. She has played under leading maestros, including
Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Sir Simon Rattle, Lorin Maazel, Daniel Harding, Daniele Gatti, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Jaap van Zweden and Tarmo Peltokoski. A major prize winner, highlights include top prizes at the Budapest International Flute Competition and the Australian National Flute Competition, the prestigious Queen’s Trust Award, and other national accolades. In addition to her full-time role in the HKPhil, she is highly respected as a flute teacher, masterclass clinician, chamber music coach, and competition adjudicator.
